1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Food Stamp Eligibility Calculator. By accessing or using the website located at foodstampeligibilitycalculator.com (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Food Stamp Eligibility Calculator (referred to as "we," "us," or "our"). We may update these Terms from time to time as described in Section 14. Your continued use of the Site after any change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use this Site. If you are under 18, you should use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. SNAP eligibility is generally determined for adult household members, so the calculator and content are designed for an adult audience.
2. Description of Service
The Site provides a free, browser-based Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility estimator and educational content about SNAP rules, income limits, deductions, and the application process. Specifically, the Site offers:
- Eligibility calculator: An interactive tool that estimates whether a household might qualify for SNAP benefits and the approximate monthly amount, based on user-entered household size, income, expenses, and state of residence.
- State-specific guides: Pages for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, summarizing state-specific SNAP options such as broad-based categorical eligibility, ABAWD waivers, and standard utility allowances.
- Educational blog: Articles explaining SNAP rules, application tips, deduction rules, and policy updates, with citations to primary government sources.
- Reference pages: Pages documenting our methodology, sources, editorial policy, and the team behind the Site (About Us).
The Site is provided free of charge. We are supported by advertising revenue, which allows us to keep the calculator and all content accessible at no cost to users.
3. We Are Not a Government Agency
Read this section carefully. Food Stamp Eligibility Calculator is an independent, privately operated website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the United States government, the USDA, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), any state SNAP agency, or any local Department of Social Services.
The official government website for SNAP is fns.usda.gov/snap. To apply for SNAP benefits, you must submit an application through your state's SNAP agency, which you can find at fns.usda.gov/snap/state-directory. Using this Site does not constitute applying for SNAP benefits, and we cannot submit an application on your behalf.
Any references to "SNAP," "food stamps," "EBT," or government program names on this Site are made solely for educational and informational purposes. All trademarks and program names belong to their respective owners.
4. No Legal or Financial Advice
All content on this Site is provided for general informational purposes only. Nothing on this Site constitutes legal, financial, tax, immigration, or benefits-counseling advice. The calculator results, blog articles, state pages, and FAQ entries should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional or from an authorized SNAP outreach counselor.
SNAP eligibility involves legal and regulatory questions that can be highly specific to your household's circumstances. Immigration status, household composition, disability determinations, student status, and other factors can affect eligibility in ways our calculator cannot fully evaluate. If your situation is complex — for example, if you have mixed-status household members, fluctuating self-employment income, or a recent job loss — we strongly recommend that you consult with:
- An authorized SNAP outreach organization in your state (often legal aid societies, food banks, or community action agencies)
- A benefits counselor at your local Department of Social Services
- An immigration attorney if your household includes non-citizens and you have questions about public-charge implications
Many states offer free application assistance through community organizations. The USDA maintains a list of SNAP outreach partners; ask your local SNAP office for a referral.
5. Calculator Limitations
Our SNAP eligibility calculator is an estimation tool, not an official determination. The result it produces is an estimate of what a household might qualify for, based on the inputs the user provides and the federal and state rules in effect at the time of calculation. It is not a guarantee, a pre-approval, or an application.
The calculator has known limitations:
- Self-reported inputs: The calculator relies entirely on the figures you enter. If you misreport income, household size, or expenses, the estimate will be wrong. The calculator cannot verify your inputs.
- Simplified deductions: Some deductions (such as the standard utility allowance, excess shelter cap, and dependent care caps) are simplified. A real caseworker may apply these differently based on documentation you provide.
- State-specific nuances: While we track state options such as BBCE and ABAWD waivers, some state policies change frequently and we may not have the most recent update. Always verify the result with your state's SNAP agency.
- Excluded factors: The calculator does not evaluate immigration status, student eligibility, drug-related disqualifications, work requirement compliance, or sanction history. These can affect eligibility in ways the calculator cannot predict.
- Benefit floor and rounding: The calculator rounds to whole-dollar amounts and applies the federal minimum benefit ($23/month in FY2026) where applicable, but edge cases (such as zero-net-income households) may produce slightly different results than a real caseworker's calculation.
For an authoritative eligibility determination, you must submit a SNAP application to your state agency and have a caseworker review your documentation.
